Twenty One Pilots are a unique band. They produce music consisting of a mix of piano (electric or keytar), synthesisers, drums and electric drums, as well as vocals. They have released 4 albums in their 6 year career: "Twenty One Pilots (2009)", "Regional at Best (2011)", "Vessel (2013)" and "Blurryface (2015)".
Their music and song lyrics are based on poetry written by Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun. In the past Joseph was quoted saying "When the poetry is too long, I need to start rapping to fit the lyrics in."
The band were formed in 2009 and are still releasing high achieving music today. Their work has seen them receive nominations for 2 MTV Music Awards, 7 AP Music Awards and a Teen Choice award.
Currently, the band is made up of two performers: Tyler Joseph - lead vocals, piano, keyboards, ukulele, keytar, synthesiser, bass. Joseph has been a member of the band since the start (2009). The other member, Josh Dun - drums - has been a member of the music group since 2011 after the former drummer Chris Salih left 2 years on from the forming of the band. The only other previous member was Nick Thomas - bass guitar and keyboards - who left with Salih back in 2011.
